challenge: do you agree that 10 greek words unite to show that the holy spirit ~ is (a person) ~ like jesus?.
the spirit, our 1helper/advocate/lawyer, is the 2holy, 3everlasting, 4eternal, 5lord, 6god, who is 7truth, & 8raised up christ, & 9makes alive; & we should be 10baptized in his name.. the wt claims: ~ "the scriptures themselves unite to show that god's holy spirit is not a person"(insight p.1019, & aid p.1543).. the scriptures themselves show just the opposite !.
10 greek words prove, that what is true of god the son (&/or god the father) is also true of god the holy spirit.
It’s not a tough crowd. I think you just have the wrong crowd. Serious JW’s are not supposed to be on a site like this. You’ve already been told Greg Stafford and Jason BeDuhn are not on here either. I’m sure someone can help you but if you want them to take the time to answer your questions they probably would like to know what your story is or at least have an idea of where you’re going with all this.
If you’re trying to challenge serious JW’s you’d be better off contacting them directly.
battlestar galactica is one of my most favorite of all tv shows, too bad it is over.
never watched the first series, but the new one is great.
mostly for the character development and the ethics issues it raises and addresses.
odd-shaped paper - the sitrep reports. Adama did'nt like networked computers so no emails. Everything had to be on paper.
so i was talking to my mother the other day, and she was distressed because she was saying that if my little sister isn't baptized or working toward it by the time she's 18 (which is coming up soon) she may have to move out (more then likely she'll move in with me and my girlfriend, or my older sister if that happens).
my little sister is a great kid (high honor roll, no trouble, hard worker, etc), that many parents would be grateful to have.
i asked my mom, why would they take parenting advice from a guy who doesn't (and hasn't) ever had kids?
In the Circuit I'm from this had always been enforced. It may be different in other areas. If an Elder has a child that doesn't seem to be progressing, his duties as "Head of Houshold" take precedence. It's not really something new.
i've been faded and moved out of the area where my records are kept (the old hall i last attended).
the elders there don't bother calling me anymore and even if they did, i've moved so far away that they couldn't stop over for a visit anyway.
since i am in a new area now where no jw's even no that i exist, life is pretty good (i can live a normal life without having to look over my shoulder).

What blondie says is true. It really depends on the local elders from your home congregation. Most elders won't take the time to follow up if you have moved out of the area. I had one call but it was just a "hello" call. If you don't make a scene they won't call you again.
I did ask one time if it nesecarry to disfellowship or mark someone if they are obvoyusily no longer a JW, but have been inactive for some time. The answer I received was "if they are not recognized by the congregation or the community as JW's its not nesecarry to follow up with them."
But if you are still keeping contact with old friends in the Hall (like you said above), atttending weddings, funerals or anything else your just asking for trouble.
i would like to know from everyone first of all what they think the difference is between a df'd person and a da'd person.. i would also like to know what everyone thinks that jw's think is the difference between a df'd and da'd person.. personally i am df'd.
i was df'd 10 years ago almost and did not argue it at all as i had no desire to continue as a jw anyway.
before being df'd i was always under the impression that if a person da'd themselves it almost always meant they were " apostate" and that there was no way a jw should have any contact with them.

Lawsuit time? Has anyone ever successfully sued a religious organization for DF\Excommunication? The only examples I’ve seen have been when the member had a financial or a paid salary association. I don’t picture anyone having a legal ground to sue the WTB&TS Inc. anymore then I have a right to sue my book club for kicking me out. Not trying to make a point, just curious.
As for merging the announcement statements I can see this happening, surprised it already hasn’t. Most congregations easily brush off DF announcements as someone being horny. But DA really stirs up the hornets’ nest. Too many questions about “Why did they do that?”, “Are they apostate?” and the feared “Do they know something I don’t know?”

bitterness as mental illness?bitter behavior is so common and deeply destructive that some psychiatrists are urging it be identified as a mental illness under the name post-traumatic embitterment disorder.by shari roan.
and, increasingly, psychiatrists know them.
I suffer from current-traumatic bitterness disorder.
I think this interesting. The Society discontinued book studies. Urban legend supposes that it was because of gas prices and well thought out changes for spiritual provisions. But the Org never does anything without a lawyer’s viewpoint. I wonder if they saw something like this coming?
In the US most homes cannot not be used for running a public business. To do so would require a zoning change and permit. This would also include the purchase of liability insurance, fire inspector visits, clearly marked exists and fire extinguishers. Along with a permit for public capacity. Regularly scheduled Book Studies would not constitute an irregular social gathering. The more I look at it the discontinuation of Book Studies the more I think it probably has more to do with lawsuits and legal issues.
